Why Recycle At All?There are some people who, for any number of reasons, don’t see the value in recycling. Perhaps they think “what difference does it make? I don’t really generate all that much trash in the grand scheme of things, and it’s a real pain to have to separate and store all those recyclables between pick-ups.” Or they don’t think all that trash being thrown out and buried in landfills is doing much harm to the environment. After all, isn’t it safely being buried out of sight below ground?

Some companies and contractors prefer not to be bothered with it, either. They might think it’s more convenient and time-saving to simply throw out waste materials such as bulk cardboard and other paper products, construction debris, and other commercial waste.

The reality of recycling is that it saves resources, prevents pollution, supports public health, and creates jobs. To understand the full value of recycling, it’s important to look at the entire lifecycle of a product. That means from the original extraction of raw materials from the ground, to raw material processing and the manufacturing of that finished product, to its final disposal somewhere.

Recycling creates a close-loop system that utilizes and consumes minimal resources, keeping as much of the material and energy involved in the manufacturing in the system. Instead of products being thrown out and incinerated or buried in landfills, they go back to the manufacturer or to a recycling center where they are dismantled or reprocessed to create new ore reusable materials for further use in a manufacturing process.

With a recycling program, everyone wins. The manufacturer uses less material and less energy initially processing and manufacturing end products, the consumer produces less waste and saves money, manufacturers have a ready source of reusable materials to create more goods to sell, and the environment benefits from less pollution and less disruption from mining, logging, and other natural resource depletion.

Recycling saves energy. By recycling about 30% of our waste every year, Americans save the equivalent of 11.9 billion gallons of gasoline and reduce greenhouse gases that are destroying our atmosphere. Doesn’t that sound like a good idea?

At Mitrano Removal Service we’ve been providing safe, effective, cost-efficient, environmentally-friendly recycling service for over twenty years. Whether its residential or commercial waste, such as masonry, metals, paper products, shingles, even organic waste such as manure – we properly transport and dispose of all kinds of recyclable waste at the proper recycling facilities where they are processed and used.

Why recycle at all? Because it’s easy, good for the environment and our communities, and just the right thing to do.
